Have you heard the Confucius quote, "Find a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life"?

CLori Carson, host of Home and Away

Hosting 'Home and Away' is a labor of love. Having built and decorated homes in four different geographical markets, I have an avid interest in home design and interior decorating and an appreciation for historic architecture. Hosting the show allows me to vicariously indulge those passions, meet interesting and hospitable people, and explore unique destinations in our area. Confucius knew what he was talking about!

My family and I moved to Lawrence from the Boston area in the spring of 2003. In the midst of March Madness, we were quickly convinced we had died and gone to basketball heaven! We felt right at home strolling down 'Massachusetts' Street and felt a kinship to the original settlers of Lawrence who also came here from New England.

Originally a Midwestern girl from Ohio, I'm a graduate of Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. Years ago I left a successful sales career to become a full-time mom…and a part-time student. Returning to the college classroom rekindled a long-lost love of communications. Media courses led to co-hosting cable television programs, and writing courses led to newspaper reporting for Herald company publications in the Boston area.

In Lawrence, I became a fellow of the inaugural class of the Citizen Journalism Academy sponsored by the Lawrence Journal-World and the William Allen White School of Journalism. A combination of these experiences, and the encouragement of a dear friend, led to the opportunity to host "Home and Away."

In my spare time I enjoy traveling (miss the ocean), movies (new and old), sports (especially if my kids are playing), music (from Van Morrison to Rob Thomas) and writing. I dream of one day owning a Craftsman-style bungalow in the mountains with a writer's loft where I can gaze out the window onto a sparkling lake and write the next great American novel.

I am the proud mom of Jessica, Jared and Jake. We live in the Foxfire area of west Lawrence with our cocker spaniel, Lucky.
